ABSTRACT

The reporting of performance and status collectively constitutes a strategy. Quantitative performance indicators (PIs), performance metrics and performance measures are terms that mean the same thing. Trends in PIs measuring employee attitudes and culture are good indicators of the quality of the design and quality of conformance to design or quality of process implementation. In an enterprise with a quality culture, a high number of overdue corrective actions is intolerable. In many ways, leaders are responsible for creating and maintaining a quality culture and quality-conscious work environment. The attainment and maintenance of a quality culture cannot be led from behind. Leaders have dozens of responsibilities for the creation and maintenance of the culture. Hazards can be identified, assessed as to their risk level, and eliminated or, if not eliminated, controlled with barriers. Certainly, risk management for components, processes and major hardware systems and the facility as a whole is a critical strategy.
