ABSTRACT
Chapter 11 discusses the problems that can occur in transcribing piano music. In scoring piano music for orchestra, the arranger often comes across certain features that are essentially pianistic rather than orchestral. In such cases a literal transcription of the notes is likely to be awkward technically or ineffective or both. A better solution is to translate the effect wanted into orchestral terms. This chapter covers those challenges and more.
