ABSTRACT
Chapter 6 focuses on the instruments involved in the woodwind section in a chamber orchestra and in a full orchestra. Topics covered include the arrangement of the woodwinds on the page (order and grouping); indications for slurring, tonguing, and phrasing; principles of balance in the woodwind section; and ways of achieving brilliant or darker coloring in woodwind scoring.
