ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on how to work with educational leadership faculty's program partners to gain clarity on the purpose of their program, envision the kind of leaders they wish to develop, and sketch their program's unique approach to developing the leaders needed in today's schools and districts. University members and practice-based educators offer a powerful combination of knowledge and expertise for strengthening educational leadership faculty's program's vision, programing, and impact. In 2012, when University of Washington's Danforth program began their redesign work, they selected particular texts and resources for team members to read. A vision and graduate profile offer a compelling destination for educational leadership faculty's program. Once articulated, theory of action statements enable program faculty to design learning experiences and other program components that support the identified program purpose and the desired graduate profile outcome.
