ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the delivery of educational leadership preparation. It draws on lessons from both the existing literature on educational leadership preparation and from preparation programs that have been recognized as innovative and/or exemplary. Traditionally, the notion of learning modality has been associated with the senses and specifically human preferences regarding the way information is conveyed and processed. Many universities have offered some form of remote or distance learning through mail-based correspondence courses, courses broadcasted to satellite locations, recorded lectures, or other distance learning tools for decades. Candidate learning products may include any supported digital medium from video files, to weblinks and yes even Word documents. In sum, innovations that build and/or break from conventional models include technology-enhanced teaching, online and hybrid course offerings, learning and networking opportunities, and practices that enhance the standard university graduate school model.
