ABSTRACT

House of Hope is a shelter that functions without its own building. They utilize a network of local churches who host families for a week at a time, before another church becomes the host. Families thus move every week and have close contact with church members more than a permanent staff. The narratives of these residents show that religion is important in the narratives and biographies of some residents, but not others, and this chapter details this and how it affects the outcomes of the residents. This chapter also discusses other reasons for differences between the residents.
