ABSTRACT
This chapter summarizes the aims of the book. First, this book came up with an alternative conception of political representation from a Confucian perspective that has not received due attention from Confucian political theorists. Second, this book showed how Confucian political representation can contribute to realizing the ideal of Confucian virtue politics in contemporary East Asian democracy. Third, this book provided insightful normative standards for the current debate between Confucian democracy and Confucian meritocracy.
