ABSTRACT

This follows from the previous chapters: how can we engage with the dilemmas that inevitably arise related to spiritual and religious beliefs as they do in all other aspects of practice. How do we ensure that we are allowing each other to be spiritually celebrating in our own way including balancing rights and responsibilities? How do you respond to situations where there seems to be no ‘right’ answer but a decision has to be made? How do you help people wrestle respectfully with their deeply held but opposing value positions? These questions are even more challenging when you have your own beliefs that may contrast with those you are working with or where they touch aspects of your own experience. Possible frameworks for thinking about and engaging with ethical dilemmas are outlined and applied to practice examples both in the chapter and in case studies at the end.
