ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author encounters ring composition a narrative technique that emerged as the author developed LogoVisual Thinking (LVT) methodology. To the usual advantages of visual thinking, LVT adds motility of ideas. Precise use of language, disciplined patterning, the hard work of epitomizing, and then add the magic of narrative and the aesthetics of Ring Composition and the people produce 'algebra of the mind'. It changes the way people think and how they relate. Producing epitome titles instead of labels elevates thinking to a higher logical level. Ring composition is a narrative that ends where it begins, reminiscent of the hero's journey. Whereas a fishbone (Ishikawa) diagram is most often used to analyse causes of a problem, here the author reverse its function, in order to discover causes that they can put in place to achieve a desired outcome.
