ABSTRACT
This chapter represents the overall scenario of Indian tea industry. In this chapter, an extensive attempt has been made to showcase the overview of the Indian tea industry. The position of the Indian tea industry in the world tea market in terms of productions and share of exports has also been presented in a very befitting manner. The various components of the Indian tea industry and their contributions, development, etc., have been highlighted. The role of the regulatory body, i.e., role of the Tea Board of India, has been discussed in this chapter. Further, in this chapter, a detailed account of discussion has been given on the issues such as the number of tea estates, category of tea estates, and types of tea produced in the North Bengal region of the Indian tea industry.
