The reader nay have noted a serious defect in the samples of evidence offered to support my generalisations. In nearly every ease the authority quoted is either an Agha or a near relative of an Agha. It may reasonably be queried whether, – if all my informants had been commoners, – the same general picture of the social organisation would have emerged.
