ABSTRACT
The specific margin that is subject is one most virulently subjected to popular parodies and to the label of irrational rectitude: the work conducted around theoretical intersections of the feminism and gender studies. Even though the marriage of two margins should not necessarily lead to the construction of that contradiction in the terms, a 'feminist center,' the embarrassed privilege granted to racially encoded feminism does indeed suggest a rectitude that could be its own theoretical undoing. The claim to authenticity – only a black can speak for a black; only a postcolonial subcontinental feminist can adequately represent the lived experience of that the culture – points to the great difficulty posited by the 'authenticity' of the female racial voices in the great game that claims to be the first narrative of what the ethnically constructed woman is deemed to want.
