ABSTRACT

The house residents include a married couple, 2 children between 9 and 14 years old, a dog, and cat. The house entry is a gathering space where people put on or take off their coats and shoes, or put items from the day. During the summer, the front door is left open with a screen, allowing air from the outside to come into the house easily. The use of the house as an office or classroom has become increasingly common in recent times. Entire rooms or parts of rooms are adjusted to allow the space to be more effective for teaching, learning, office work, meetings, research, art, exercise, and more. The house is heated by a gas furnace with heating through base boards in the house. The dining room and kitchen are connected in the space. There are double sliding doors to the deck and backyard from the dining room and kitchen and common area.
