ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the relationships between academic leaders and various colleague groups including bosses, peers, faculty, and administrative staff. It outlines and illustrates strategies for building and maintaining trust relationships with each of these groups while getting the important work done. The chapter includes a discussion on the role of the leader in faculty development together with practical guidance for keeping faculty on track for promotion.

The reader will gain insights into the range of expectations various colleagues have of the academic leader, while also learning practical management and support strategies.
