ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book recognises the importance of having developmentally appropriate expectations. It highlights the importance of transition in children's lives and the impact change can have on them. The book discusses some strategies we can adopt which support children through change and transition and reminds us that we need to view our settings through our children's eyes in order to better understand what difficulties they may encounter. Social, emotional and mental health needs could be described as children having difficulties in managing their emotions and behaviour. The knock-on effect will be staff and children with high levels of wellbeing.
