ABSTRACT

This chapter begins by synthesizing the main tenets of Plato’s Pragmatism. It then addresses two potentional objections to the interpretation defended throughout this book: that it can’t account for passages exalting truth and rationality, and that it neglects Plato’s metaphysics. After responding to these objections, the authors restate the main philosophical tenets of Plato’s pragmatism and discuss their philosophical merits. They end by highlight the numerous ways in which the views they’ve attributed to Plato are relevant for contemporary problems that are of philosophical, political, and personal interest.
