ABSTRACT

The chapter argues that communication is anything but a soft skill; rather, it is grounded in research and measured using appropriate methodologies. This chapter explains what type of communication research is needed at which stage of the project and provides an introduction to the main methodologies and methods. Research is needed at the outset so that stakeholders and their concerns can be understood and communication activity should be assessed throughout the life of the project to make sure that its working. The chapter makes a case for research with tips on how to address blockers to this key part of communication delivery
