ABSTRACT
The author engages with the manner in which economic matters were presented by the press in 2014, with it being observed that the dominant narrative was that an independent Scotland would face various hardships in the early years of its existence. The concerns of business leaders, the potential impact on household budgets and the volatility of oil are among the more persistent trends discussed in this chapter.
