ABSTRACT

“Eating As Self-Feeding” explores the implications of not eating too fast or too messily or in any other manner that seems to obstruct or hinder the experience of proper self-feeding. These are special challenges for those taking care of children who seem to have difficulty eating together in a typical, socially acceptable manner. Chizuko Fujita addresses the experiential challenges of teaching and learning to eat together while also questioning the social acceptability of eating differently.
