ABSTRACT

Moving by foot can be more dangerous since the client is outside the protection of a vehicle or building, and the security has more distractions to deal with. It is important to practice this type of movement so that everyone understands where they are in the formation and what their responsibilities are. Below are some basic information on foot formation tactics. The type of formation will be dependent on several factors: the available manpower, available resources, degree of threat for that event, and other security at the event. In large crowds with no other crowd control, the detail will tighten the security sphere around the client, keeping people away. Anything that is thrown toward the detail will be struck away from the detail and to the ground immediately, since ground blasts are less damaging then air bursts. There may be special situations that need to be considered at some locations when protecting a client.
