ABSTRACT
The book has offered channels to challenge cynicism and restore hope throughout, including a more affirmative discourse, aesthetic education, media and educational reform, critical media literacy and civics education, and methods to rein in corporate power. This final chapter advocates for a radical democracy that can restore the power of the people to have a meaningful say in the decisions that affect our lives, including addressing the challenges of global warming, inequality, intolerance and the dramatic attacks on democracy itself. It requires vigilance, getting the right messages to the right people in the right way and continuing to build on successful historical and recent grassroots efforts to take on entrenched power and reform American society for the better.
