ABSTRACT

This chapter explores challenges and solutions for learning to use data on the job. The thought of writing the perfect report for each of these students seemed at once the correct thing to do and also impossible. There are many small moments in the day people can use to practice. A great way to get value from the limited time people have is to start by investing in people's self-awareness about what data is meaningful to people. A grid that shows four kinds of data: high control and small scale, low control and small scale, high control and large scale, and low control and large scale. Educators have a lot of data they could use. Through trial and error, they’ve got to learn which data serves their daily decision-making. And once they’ve learned that, they’ve got to keep that data coming efficiently so they can reach even more students.
