ABSTRACT

It is anticipated that this interactive narrative has informed, advised and added to the development of understandings for both current and aspiring school leaders to the impact that school leadership behaviours have on school renewal and associated leadership-oriented activities. Also, as experienced school leaders ourselves, we have attempted to redefine the concept of school renewal within a modern global schooling context, taking into consideration aspects of school accountability, staff and school leader resilience, individual situational characteristics, the school as a learning organisation as well as exploring concepts relating to distributed leadership, collective efficacy, sustainable change modelling and value-adding. Consequently, we hope that the work has been able to offer to the reader advice and guidance for the ongoing development of renewal approaches in their respective schools and act as an aid in the future development of school leaders.
