ABSTRACT

This chapter is about networking for legal professionals. The first part introduces the topic. The second part looks at preparing for a networking event, including how to identify people you could talk to and what to say. The third part looks at what you can do when you attend an event, including how to join people, make small talk, talk about your work, keep a conversation going, bring others into a conversation, and end a conversation politely. The final part looks at how to follow up in writing after a networking event to continue to build relationships with your new contacts.
