ABSTRACT

Industry / art form reflections on the ancient past (the rise of symbolic representation and oral tradition languages), the emergent technology-driven future, and the global mindset that defines the present. How do these factors affect Creative Writing today? The author provides further detail on personal life lessons gained from international writing practice and teaching, along with interviews / reflections from working professionals: an established literary critic, a significant foreign translator, a rising Indian poet and fiction writer, two African multimedia writers / translators / university professors, an American poet committed to social issues such as HIV and community connection, and a Chinese American fiction writer and small press publisher of new and previously marginalized voices.
