ABSTRACT

As all human beings, paranormalists and ufologists are agents of time. A paranormal investigation is itself a temporal expedition, one that creates time warps, tunnels, or mediums by which what is lost, or only gauged through traces or barely heard words, or even imagined, can come to full fruition or existence in the present. Paranormal technologies seem to be able to slow down and accelerate time, for both ends of the communication spectrum. One of the most jarring but common manifestations of these “time-slips” is the unexplainable fact, on the part of investigators, that when one records the electronic voice phenomena at a certain speed, and then hears it back at half speed, the spirits’ voices come through as they were at normal chronological speed, as if the dead’s consciousness did not exist in time. Cristian Simonetti writes about concepts of time among underwater archaeologists.
