ABSTRACT

The conclusion returns to the broader context of the island of Ireland to explore events, such as Brexit negotiations (e.g., the Northern Ireland Protocol), and how space is utilized to foster efforts to renegotiate perceptions of national identities and territorial belonging. Then, returning to the importance and impact of “shared” spaces in Northern Ireland’s divided cities and reconciliatory efforts between the Republic of Ireland and the UK, the conclusion argues that current efforts could be interpreted as an indication of a renegotiation of the troubled relationship between these states.
