ABSTRACT

The Three Key Kind Leader Practices flow from one another. They are always assume positive intent, check thoughts frequently, and consciously change unkind thoughts to kind ones. For leaders, thinking kindly about others is extremely important because, in order to create a culture of trust, leaders need to have their followers’ best interests at heart. When leaders assume negative intent, don’t check their thoughts for unconscious bias and don’t work to change unkind thoughts to kind ones, it’s likely that they will remain focused on potential negative consequences and end results in different situations for them. When leaders think kindly of others, they are less likely to focus on potential negative consequences for themselves. Focusing on others and their best interests both helps to reduce fear and create a culture of trust.
