ABSTRACT

While efforts to contain the Covid-19 pandemic were largely driven by governments that could mobilise their substantial resources and capabilities, citizens across the world have also sought to combat the pandemic through ground-up initiatives. This chapter documents and discusses the ground-up urban interventions and initiatives that emerged during the pandemic in Singapore. As stakeholders and inhabitants of a city-state, Singapore citizens and grassroots organisations play an important role in (re)shaping Singapore’s urban response to pandemics.
