ABSTRACT
The overall task of this book is to outline elements and some foundations of a Marxist-humanist theory of communication by engaging with the works of some relevant thinkers. This chapter provides an introduction. It discusses foundations of Marxist humanism (Section 1.1), why we need Marxist humanism today (Section 1.2), the structure of the book (Section 1.3), and alienation as a key Marxist humanist concept (Section 1.4).
