ABSTRACT

This chapter analyses the relationship of capitalism, racism, and patriarchy.

The approach taken engages with and combines Marxist political economy, Marxist feminism, and black Marxism, including works by Vivek Chibber, Mariarosa Dalla Costa, Angela Davis’s Marxist black feminism, W. E. B. Du Bois, Zillah Eisenstein, Eric J. Hobsbawm, C. L. R. James, Selma James, Rosa Luxemburg, Karl Marx, Maria Mies, Eve Mitchell, Cedric J. Robinson’s, David Roediger’s wages of whiteness approach, Marisol Sandoval, Sylvia Walby, Carter Wilson and Audrey Smedley’s historical analyses of racism and class, and Cornel West.

Section 10.2 discusses the relationship between housework and reproductive labour to capitalism. Section 10.3 analyses the connection between racism and capitalism. Section 10.4 focuses on the relation of capitalism, racism, and patriarchy. Section 10.5 draws conclusions.
