ABSTRACT
Chapter 4 begins with a brief history of population growth before assessing current trends and projections for the future. We then discuss India as an example of a country experiencing rapid population growth. The second part of the chapter examines population theories associated with Malthus and Marx before explaining the demographic transition model.
