ABSTRACT
Chapter 9 expands our discussion of population health by looking at two current trends. First, we explore the ecology of infectious diseases and how environmental change is leading to an increased risk of their emergence and transmission. Second, we explore how changes in the social environment are leading to changing risks with respect to chronic and degenerative diseases.
