ABSTRACT

This chapter takes the foundational knowledge and the scenario hypotheticals and turns them into real-life action within our business. It offers the reader a way to assess their business’s current inclusiveness, offers guidance on improving the physical space, policies, and protocols, and provides suggestions on office alterations to create a supportive and affirming environment. The chapter describes that supporting LGBT+ inclusion in the workplace supports everyone within that workspace. It is vital to be mindful of this so that we offer foundational knowledge to someone unaware without coming across to them as patronizing. In addition to often living in states and cities where an LGBT+ person can be mistreated with microaggressions for being LGBT+, these individuals are also fighting for the opportunity to succeed professionally, just like everyone.
