ABSTRACT

Chapter 11 highlights the ethical implications of attempting to mitigate learning resistance. Learning resistance mitigation is discussed as a learner-centered approach to training. This chapter presents a number of different common dilemmas that training professionals might face in the workplace, and it provides a facilitator-as-mediator (FAM) concept for working through these dilemmas. Some of the dilemmas that are addressed include instructor values vs. supervisor values; instructor values vs. the content; and instructor values vs. the learner. Each of these different real-world dilemmas involve situations where the training professional is in a situation in which it is difficult to determine the right thing to do.
