ABSTRACT

Chapter 12 draws on the concepts together into a comprehensive whole and provides a set of goals for those hoping to become more and more influential and effective as training coordinators, curriculum designers, and trainers in the workplace. It presents training as connection and in so doing, brings together all of the concepts in the book into a comprehensive summary. Training is connection in the following ways: the teacher must connect to the learner; old knowledge must be connected to new knowledge; short-term memory must be connected to long-term memory; learners must be connected to learners; principles must be connected to applications; and means must be connected to ends (means-ends-fusion).
