ABSTRACT

Chapter 7 will provide a comprehensive overview of mitigation strategies for working with resistant learners and fostering engagement. This chapter provides a concrete method for approaching workplace instruction that applies to all training modalities. The acronym CONNECT is used to refer to a set of steps that can be actively used in all teaching situations, and a Cognitive-Affective-Social (CAS) worksheet is provided for use, both in planning lessons and in the classroom. The CAS worksheet is a tool for both the instructor to use prior to teaching a lesson and for the employee learner in the classroom during group discussions and activities.
