ABSTRACT

Griselda Gambaro is an iconic figure in the arts, highly regarded worldwide for her plays, novels, short stories, and essays. Her theatre has played a central role in pioneering avant-garde aesthetics and exemplifying the engagement between theatre, human rights, and activism. Gambaro’s work lays bare the shifting power dynamics that have shaped discourses on gender and violence in Argentina from the 1960s to the present. Her treatment of gender violence, scrutiny of motherhood, and portrayals of patriarchal resistance resonate powerfully in the context of recent feminist mobilizations taking place in Latin America.
