ABSTRACT

Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol [Lizards Lying in the Sun] was founded in Mexico City in 2003 by Luisa Pardo and Lázaro Gabino Rodríguez. The collective is known for their use of fiction and reality within their documentary plays. Over the years, their work has begun to challenge the very possibility of recreating or representing what is real. The integration of personal stories and imagined or dreamed experiences into more traditional documentary evidence becomes key in the search for how theatre is related to reality. Lagartijas’s central line of questioning has indelibly marked the documentary genre in Latin American theatre.
