ABSTRACT

Cherríe Moraga is one of the most notable and well-recognized queer Chicanx playwrights, writers, scholars, and activists. Moraga’s trailblazing work enriches women of color feminism and Chicanx/Latinx theatre and cultural studies. Moraga’s lived experiences as a biracial queer Chicanx woman inform her work and her keen sense of storytelling. Themes like queer Chicanx identities, indigenous women’s issues, and the dominance of patriarchal oppression abound in her oeuvre. Moraga’s stories explore multicultural and queer identities, placing (in)visible stories and bodies onstage.
