ABSTRACT

Hugo Octavio Salcedo Larios was born in Ciudad Guzmán, Jalisco, Mexico in 1964. He is the author of more than fifty plays, many of which have been translated into English, French, German, and Korean. Salcedo’s innovative use of language, complicated plot lines with twists and turns, and widespread use of interior monologues make his theatre unique. Salcedo’s favorite topics focus on the dialectics of love and hate through the prism of human relationships. Some of his plays explore the problems of the US–Mexican border, while others focus on violence, poverty, classical and biblical myths.
