ABSTRACT
Caridad Svich’s plays are transnational and transcultural in scope, complicating notions of what Latinx identity can encompass. Svich has written over eighty full-length plays and has translated over thirty-five works. Her plays draw on diaspora, family legacies of migration, displacement, dislocation, and re-location to tackle notions of wanderlust, dispossession, biculturalism, bilingualism, and construction of identity, themes that run rampant through her prolific body of work. Her theatre is imbued by her ethnic and cultural backgrounds which are fundamental to her writing.
