ABSTRACT

Following the nested analysis design by Lieberman, the cases for the qualitative part were deliberately chosen to build a more robust model through the SNA. The goal of the brief health risk assessments is to better understand the exposure and vulnerability of the selected countries to climate change related health risks and to analyze whether different levels of vulnerability or exposure influence state perceptions and decisions on health adaptation to climate change. The handbook-guided expert interviews with scientists, government officials, and representatives of international organizations, such as the World Health Organization or the World Bank, constitute the most essential part of the case studies since the interview partners provided exclusive information on how climate change related health risks are perceived, which actions are taken, and what drives and prevents comprehensive health adaptation initiatives to climate change in the respective countries.
