ABSTRACT

Infertility presents singular challenges to couples when sexual activity becomes focused on conception rather than pleasure. The primary relationship may become strained and it is not unusual to see conflict and even relationship breakdown in the aftermath of treatment for infertility. The connection between infertility and sexuality or sexual function is clear with infertility and its treatment causing sexual problems for some, while sexual dysfunction can also cause infertility. These associations will be discussed in depth in this chapter.
