ABSTRACT

Individuals with disabilities have the same rights to love, relationships, sexual pleasure, and choice. But disability is also a source of shame for some as well as discrimination, and there is a lack of specialized services to support sexuality in this population. These challenges may begin in adolescence when the need for knowledge about healthy sexuality may be neglected. Persons with disabilities may be viewed as asexual despite having the same desire for romantic and sexual relationships in young and older adulthood.
