ABSTRACT
The post-school sector is vast and consists of universities, colleges, training organisations, skills centres and adult education, plus much else. There are, at least, 180 universities, over 280 colleges and numerous training centres and many more adult education organisations in the UK. There are vast differences between the universities themselves and major differences between institutions of further education and higher education. Educational institutions need to invest in professional security officers who are sensitive to the needs of protecting all students. The differences between teachers and students at school and post-school is emphasised through age, clothing and forbidden areas for students. In universities and colleges cultures vary. The cultures in post-school foyers are often like shopping malls, where many aspects of education are for sale in some colleges and universities.
