ABSTRACT

The main focus of this chapter is to demonstrate the findings of the cross-case analysis. Its purpose is to scrutinise the similarities and differences across the three cases, which underwent a detailed thematic inquiry aimed at searching for and identifying the most significant themes related to the investigated families. These were also validated against the questions and statements employed in the online questionnaire as well as the conducted interviews. The online questionnaire secured insight into the language management of transnational families and their perceptions related to bilingualism and bilingual upbringing. The three in-depth cases studies based on interviews, observations and language portraits uncovered the impact of FLP on family members’ ideologies and their heritage language maintenance. The present chapter is divided into two distinct parts as follows: firstly, the parents’ perceptions and understanding is presented, secondly the children’s experiences and perspectives follow.
