ABSTRACT

Here, we discuss creative ecosystems and the dynamic actors and organizations networked within these complex adaptive systems. The concepts of policy and arts entrepreneurs are reviewed along with the organizational models these leaders create to leverage their interests. The factors that go into deciding whether to establish a nonprofit or for-profit are shared, including considerations of purpose, market, and financial structure. Also included are related topics such as the government’s role in the creative ecosystem, the gig economy, and the opportunities and challenges of shifting demographics.
