ABSTRACT

Who is studying, presenting, and measuring the creative sector? Chapter 8 discusses the global interest in this field, including how UNESCO decides which cities are creative, as well as detailing the organizations that have been formed to coalesce around the burgeoning interest in cultural and creative industries. Here, we discuss the role of policy boosters in municipalities who use the Creative City paradigm to foster interest in their urban centers for tourism, commerce, and residents and use policy transfer and diffusion theories to illustrate how ideas move from one place to another.
