ABSTRACT

In light of the main results of the case study research, this chapter offers several pedagogical orientations for supporting academic literacy development in the context of digital science communication. The chapter also illustrates several applications of the findings to support digital and multimodal skills practice. The chapter additionally discusses how the study of networks of genres in web environments can be moved forward, both theoretically and methodologically, with a view to gaining a better understanding of connected genres online and intersemiotic relations across modes and media. In foregrounding the complex dynamics of networks of genres in digital environments, the chapter finally outlines several future avenues for research on genres and multimodality in digital science communication.
